GRILO (Drew ’99) Head Coach, Morris Knolls High School

Mark Grilo, has played lacrosse at its highest level. A former member of the Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse, Grilo has played at the club level and in tournaments both all around the United States and Internationally. He is an advisor for the Portuguese National Team development program, helping to grow the sport in that country. He has coached at every level of lacrosse from youth to post-collegiate club. He has been a carded lacrosse official since 2005, and officiated numerous youth and high school lacrosse tournaments and games. He is the President of TOPFLIGHT LACROSSE which runs camps, players' and coaches' clinics and Elite travel teams to help develop the players and sport that he loves.
Coach Grilo began playing lacrosse in high school (Seton Hall Prep '95). At SHP, the two year varsity starter and captain was twice selected an All Iron Hills Conference and All Fitch Division Goaltender and started in the 1995 Gil Gibbs North-South All Star Game, leading the South Team to a thrilling 12-11 victory.
A 1999 graduate of Drew University, Grilo was a Two Time First Team All Conference All Star, Two Time Captain, Two Time Drew Invitational Defensive MVP, led the Rangers to two ECAC Championships (98' ECAC MVP with 32 saves) and holds school records in 6 categories for the nationally ranked Rangers. Grilo received national recognition by finshing 1999 TOP TEN in the Country in Save Percentage (.687) and Goals Against Average (6.48) and was selected as the starting goaltender of the South Team in the 1999 STX North-South All-Star Game.
Grilo began the Morris Knolls and Morris Hills Lacrosse Programs in 2005 inviting athletes to try lacrosse for the first time in the district. The program soon grew and in the Spring of 2007, Morris Knolls High School fielded its first-ever varsity lacrosse team. In it's three year history, The program has earned 2 State and County Tournament berths. The Golden Eagles joined the Klank Division in 2008 and has had a number of players selected to All Division and All Conference Teams. The Program has also had 2 All State and Gil Gibbs North-South All Star Game Selections.
Prior to his arrival at Morris Knolls, he served as the head coach at East Brunswick High School and led the team to the State Playoffs in 2004, coaching 6 All Conference and 1 All-State player. Grilo was also the Head Coach at Wesley College (DE) were he led the Wolverines to two PAC Final appearances, coaching 12 All Conference players and 1 Conference Player of The Year. He also served as assistant coach at Wesley College (Defensive Coordinator), Drew University (Goaltender/ Defensive Coach) and Livingston High School.
Coach Grilo is a member of the Business Department and teaches College Accounting, Buisness and Personal Law and Sports and Entertainment Marketing at both Morris Hills and Morris Knolls High Schools. He is also the Head Junior Varsity Girls' Soccer Coach.....He is married and resides in Long Valley, NJ with his wife Amy.
